SUDSOL Blog Tour – Elements of Style
Posted by: | CommentsOur entry today is a card using the Elements of Style stamp set from the Summer Mini.
This card is ideal for workshop demonstrations because it highlights great new products from the Mini Catalog. The Elements of Style stamp set, Chocolate Chip Satin Ribbon and several of our most popular products that can get lost in the back of the catalog such as; Blender Pens, Circle Scissor Plus and Dotto. Tools like the Circle Scissor Plus are always popular with new and experienced stampers. By highlighting some of these items from the back of the catalog it gives a great tie-in for reminding customers to look at the accessories, punches, tools, adhesives and more that are up-sell items. This card is part of our Elements of Style Class which has 4 cards and includes a matching box. With the cost to create the 4 cards at $3.22 US and $4.09 CA for all 4 cards, it’s a cost effective project that showcases four products and a technique.
SUPPLIES
Rose Red card stock 1 5-1/2” x 8-1/2”
Chocolate Chip card stock 1 3-3/4” x 5”
Very Vanilla Card Stock 1 3-1/2” x 4-3/4”
12” Chocolate Chip 5/8” Satin Ribbon
I’ve been a member of SUDSOL for over 4 years now. SUDSOL is a great resource for demos because it is focused on serving demonstrators only! Demos have enough competition from other markets, it’s nice to have a place where we can go that is not open to the whole crafting world. The resources, like the catalog pricing spreadsheets, are a big help and worth the small cost of membership on their own!
Thanks for visiting.

The projects are all going to be showcasing the Summer Mini Catalog and are DEMONSTRATABLE projects. It’s a great opportunity to get some ideas for future classes/workshops. Mark your calendar.

Now it’s easier than ever to share your projects pictures or blog candy that I post here. I implemented a new tool on this blog that makes sharing pictures on your blog, DBWS and emails faster and easier.
Just use my Get HTML Page.
Here’s some instructions for the page:
Instructions:
A) Add your Image URL here. This is a full picture URL starting with http://www.
B) Enter in where you would like the customer to be sent to when they click on the picture.
C) If you need to change the width of the picture, you can do that here.

New WordPress Plugin-Table of Contents Creator
Posted by: | CommentsEvery Saturday I have a standing tradition of going shopping for new WordPress Plug-ins. I love WordPress, I think that shows. The fact that I can easily install (and uninstall) plug-ins on a whim is great. It makes my day actually.
Today’s find is Table of Contents Creator By Mark Beljaars. It’s a Site Map on steriods and I don’t have to do anything but select which categories I want to have displayed. So easy to install and I believe it will add value for the reader. Give it a try and let me know what you think. Select SITE MAP above on my menu.
If you are as impressed as I am, install the plugin, give Mark Beljaars a shout and a donation for his hard work.

Adding a Sign-up Form in Blogger
Posted by: | CommentsInstructions Provided by Heather Wright-Porto of Blogs By Heather.
Instructions:
- Login to Blogger
- From the Dashboard, click on Layout
- Click on Page Elements
- Click on Add a Gadget at the top of the sidebar
- From the list of available gadgets, choose HTML/JavaScript
- In the next window that pops up, type in a Title, such as “Subscribe To My Newsletter” or “Sign-up for My Newsletter”
- In the Content area, copy and paste the HTML/form code. Below is just sample for testing purposes and documentation purposes only (you should not use this code for your blog)
- Then click on Save
- Now the newly added gadget appears at the top of the sidebar. Although this is a prime location for your newsletter signup, you can click and drag it wherever you would like it in the sidebar
- When finished, click on Save
- And you’re done! It will look similar to the image below when you view your blog

<form name=”form1″ method=”post” action=”websiteURL”>…..</form>

ANOTHER OPTION
If you wanted to make the sign-up box more personalized, you can add your own greeting text, such as
To receive monthly stamping and scrapping tips, learn new stamping techniques, receive special coupons and stay informed about upcoming promotions, sign up for my newsletter by entering your name and email address below. Thank you!
This would be placed immediately above the start of your HTML code, right before and above the <form> statement. In this example, it would be place right above the line:
<form name=”form1″ method=”post” action=”websiteURL”>…..</form>
Again, remember to click Save to save your changes. It would then look like this (below) for example:

If you have a blog you will want to be updating your sidebars with linkable graphics. (Don’t forget to check out my Blog Candy every month). Although this is easy to do, it is easily forgotten as well since you only have to update the sidebars every once in a while. Below are step-by-step directions for importing the graphic into WordPress, Blogger and Typepad.
WordPress
- In WordPress go to Appearance > Widgets or Dashboard, > Design > Widgets.
- You will want to add a TEXT widget
- Add the text widget first and then save it
- Now EDIT the Text Widget
- You will want to copy and paste the code into the text area and select CHANGE
- Save Changes
Blogger
- Login to Blogger
- From the Dashboard, click on Layout
- Click or go to Page Elements
- Click Add a Gadget
- Choose HTML/JavaScript from the list
- Enter Title
- Then in the large text box area you will copy and paste the HTML code
- Save changes
- Drag and drop where you want the new sidebar item
- Save
- You’re done!
Typepad
- In Typepad go to Typelists (green tab)
- Select the white text “Create a New Typelist“.
- Choose NOTES from the List Type.
- Enter a title for your sidebar item
- Select Create New Typelist button
- You can enter optional text in the Label
- In the Notes section, copy and paste all the HTML Code
- Save changes
- Select Publish Tab
- Then put a checkmark next to your weblog name and click Save Changes
- Click on the blue text link “Content“. This brings you to the layout of your blog and the new item was most likely added to the bottom of your left sidebar. Click and drag where you want it to be.
- Save changes
- You’re done!
