An Easy & Heathly Habit

By

I’m really bad about forming habits, especially healthy habits! So I was so surprised this worked for me that I just had to share with all my demonstrator friends.

We all know how drinking 8 glasses of water a day is a healthy habit.  But, you may have a difficult time with as I did.  Try this habit out for a month and see if it doesn’t work for you.

  • First thing in the morning, gulp (not drink) two glasses of water.  FIRST THING!
  • Before you leave your office for the day, gulp two more glasses of water.  Consider it a right of passage.

That’s 4 glasses of water without even having to think about it.  Half of what you need in a day.  I started doing this in December and I had no problem following it and getting in my 8-8oz of water. By January, I felt better.  REALLY!  I know this because when I went to Leadership in Phoenix, I didn’t follow my habit and I felt like I was going to shrivel up and die. I didn’t like the water in Phoenix, no offense Phoenixins.

So give it a try.  Gulping is easier than you think once you get going.  Here’s another tip.  Make sure you glass size is 8oz.  6oz is cheating and those 12oz glasses or larger are just plain scary.  :-)

    Debbie,
I so need to make this my habit also. I know I am walking around dehydrated most of the time. The problem is, I am hardly ever thirsty. So for me to drink or gulp a glass of water is like torture. It is much easier for me if there is a little artificial sweetener in it. Not a whole package, just a smidge. And I can never drink it ice cold. Brrrr..

Connie, I’ll tell you the truth. Gulping the water the first couple of weeks WAS torture. It wasn’t enjoyable, but I can honestly say it is now. Drinking the water cool but not cold is the only way I could get it down. During the day my little game to drink a large glass of water that I set on my desk before the ice melts. I know, the silly things we do to trick ourselves into be healthy. I wish the best for you. Give it a try, I think you will be surprised after a month like I was. Thanks for commenting.
